Take a virtual power plant tour

Have you ever wondered how a power plant generates electricity?

This virtual power plant tour shows you how, from start to finish, by taking you on a simulated tour. Using sound, animation, photographic virtual reality and games to show you how electricity is produced, just as if you were there -- letting you visit a power plant without ever leaving your home.

To get started, just follow the instructions below.

What you need for the tour

The virtual power plant tour contains multimedia and requires the use of QuickTime™, Shockwave™ and Flash™.

It is strongly recommended that you read the help file and go through the PC plug-in detection or MAC plug-in detection process to make sure you have a positive viewing experience.

Please note: this site is best viewed in Netscape 4.0 browsers or better with resolution set to 800 x 600 or better.

Instructions

While you're taking the tour, you'll notice special buttons and icons. Follow these instructions to be sure you get the most out of the tour.

Using QuickTime VR

The panoramic videos in the virtual tour are powered by QuickTime. Complete the plug-in detection process to install QuickTime if you do not have it.

Start the tour

The tour is in three parts. You go through the entire tour from start to finish, or skip to any of the three sections individually.

The first section is the fuel section.

The second section is the water section.

The third section is the electricity section.
